Colour Slides
taken in the UK and Europe in 1968/9.
When I was 19 I left NewZealand for the UK aboard the Rangitoto, a small one-class vessel belonging to the New Zealand Shipping Line.
The following are some digital copies of slides that I took over those two years away, (of varying quality.)
I'd just bought my first camera prior to leaving, a Canon 1.7 35mm rangefinder type.
I never really discovered photography until I got back to New Zealand and became aware of the work of people like Henri Cartier Bresson and Robert Frank, but I really enjoyed taking pictures nevertheless.
Colour slides seemed like the best option at the time although back then, even in the UK, it could take six weeks before they were developed.

I got off the beaten track in southern Italy. This is somewhere near Gravina.
There were no cars so I waited most of the day until work ended for these hoers and one of them was able to give me a lift.
I love this photograph.
